Long Snapping Coaches

 About Me

As a coach for 3-Step Kicking, my purpose is to help long snappers reach their full potential and achieve their goals of playing at the next level.

I started long snapping in middle school out of necessity. It was the first time we started kicking field goals and punting and no one could snap the ball. I received a crash course on long snapping from a family friend who long snapped at Michigan State University. He earned a scholarship and won 2 championships while at MSU. From there I was a 3 year varsity starter at South Elgin High School and went on to snap for 3 years at Olivet Nazarene University.

As a long snapper, the best compliment you can receive is people not knowing your name. That may sound confusing but that actually means you are doing your job, and doing it well. The only time you are recognized is on a bad snap.

Every special teams play starts with a great snap. As the long snapping coach, I will help our athletes with location and speed of the snaps. For field goal and PAT snaps, I will help with the grip of the ball to ensure a perfect ‘laces out’ snap.
